UCP's
Great Chefs' Tasting
On
Tuesday, October 23, 2007, approximately 850 guests gathered
at The Pink Palace Mansion and Museum and sampled
sensational dishes at Memphis’ original tasting party, the
22nd Annual Great Chefs’ Tasting, benefiting
United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of the Mid-South. This year,
twenty-five chefs, restaurants, and drink vendors raised
money for UCP while competing for the People’s Choice Awards
for Best Dish and Best Booth Presentation.
People's Choice
Awards for Best Dish:
First Place
– Grilled New Zealand Spring Lamb prepared by the staff of
Outback Steakhouse.
Second Place
– Apple Wood Smoked Pork Tenderloin drizzled
with Creole
Mustard Vinaigrette and Crawfish Macaroni and Cheese Deluxe
prepared by chef Derk Meitzler and the staff of Café 61.
Third Place –
Duck Confit prepared by Chef Ben Vaughn
People's Choice Awards for Best Booth:

Medallion Restaurant, Chef Bruce Foley
Second Place
– Folk’s Folly, Chef Javier Lopez

– Circa, Chef John Bragg
The 22nd
Annual Great Chefs’ Tasting is an annual event that supports
UCP’s programs and services. This was the second year that
the event was held at The Pink Palace. The venue allowed
guests to not only participate in the Tasting but also tour
the Museum and Mansion facilities and view IMAX film and
Planetarium presentations.
Founded in 1980, UCP of the Mid-South is an affiliate of a
nationwide network of more than 100 statewide and local
not-for-profit agencies that provide programs and services
and conduct public and professional education programs
relevant to cerebral palsy and other disabilities. UCP is
committed to advancing the independence, productivity and
full citizenship of people with all types of disabilities.
