UCP's Great Chefs' Tasting

On Tuesday, October 23, 2007, approximately 850 guests gathered at The Pink Palace Mansion and Museum and sampled sensational dishes at Memphis’ original tasting party, the 22nd Annual Great Chefs’ Tasting, benefiting United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of the Mid-South.  This year, twenty-five chefs, restaurants, and drink vendors raised money for UCP while competing for the People’s Choice Awards for Best Dish and Best Booth Presentation.

People's Choice Awards for Best Dish:

First Place – Grilled New Zealand Spring Lamb prepared by the staff of
                               Outback Steakhouse.

Second Place – Apple Wood Smoked Pork Tenderloin drizzled with Creole
Mustard Vinaigrette and Crawfish Macaroni and Cheese Deluxe
prepared by chef Derk Meitzler and the staff of Café 61.

Third Place – Duck Confit prepared by Chef Ben Vaughn

People's Choice Awards for Best Booth:

First Place – The Medallion Restaurant, Chef Bruce Foley

Second Place – Folk’s Folly, Chef Javier Lopez

Third Place – Circa, Chef John Bragg

The 22nd Annual Great Chefs’ Tasting is an annual event that supports UCP’s programs and services.  This was the second year that the event was held at The Pink Palace.  The venue allowed guests to not only participate in the Tasting but also tour the Museum and Mansion facilities and view IMAX film and Planetarium presentations.

Founded in 1980, UCP of the Mid-South is an affiliate of a nationwide network of more than 100 statewide and local not-for-profit agencies that provide programs and services and conduct public and professional education programs relevant to cerebral palsy and other disabilities. UCP is committed to advancing the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with all types of disabilities.

Join us at the 23rd Annual Great Chefs' Tasting on Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 at the Pink Palace Museum and Mansion.
